Imbolc is a great time for refreshing the energy in your home. In some countries they will burp the home. This means that the homeowners will open the windows for a bit to air out the home, even in the dead of winter. Stale air and stale energy can cause a feeling of stagnancy. To invite in new energy during Imbolc you will need a few things for the house blessing.

First, to spiritual cleanse the home you will need either some sage (I use common garden sage.) or Palo Santo. Start at one end of the home and wave the smoke in all corners, closets, drawers, and shelves. As you leave a room close the door behind you. Moving the energy toward the open front door. Once the negative energy has been shooed out the door, close the door.

After that you want to use incense such as Nag Champa, Frankincense, or any incense that is of a high vibration. Start at one end of the home waving the smoke into all the crevices. Be sure to seal any

reflective surfaces such as mirrors. Put blessing or holy water in a spray bottle then spray into the room before closing and sealing the door. Finish with standing in front of the main entrance of the home, visualize a white light bubble encasing the home and property. Say this blessing, “May positive energy fill this home. May peace and love be with all who dwell here. May the God(dess) blessing and protect this home. And So It Is.”

For maintaining the positive energy of the home, use bells or singing bowls. The sound vibration helps raise the positive energy. Diffusing essential oils such as lavender or frankincense can help to maintain positive energy. Placing crystal, such as clear quartz, selenite, or even salt, on the windowsills and by the doorways can add a protect layer to the home.

Imbolc is a blessed time for release and renewal. One way to release the old and invite in the new is to perform a house blessing. What way are you celebrating this Imbolc?
